Speaker 1:

What's up everyone? This is Bite of Balance, your weekly snack size therapy sesh. I'm your host, teresa, and today's bite is all about marriage, the hard work you need to put in and how to keep it alive. If you missed that episode, be sure to check it out, but for now it's just you and me, so let's freaking, get into it. ["fairy Tale"]. All right, so we all know the fairy tale that was sold to us when we were younger. Girl meets Prince Charming, adversity strikes, they get hitched and, voila, happily ever after. Well, reality check, that's not how it goes down.

Speaker 1:

We're kicking things off by debunking the myth of happily ever after because, seriously, if the wedding day is the peak, what's left for the rest of your marriage? Let's get real Now. Let's get down and dirty about the real work of marriage. Spoiler alert it's not all sunshine and rainbows. We're talking about how relationships, especially marriages, demand effort, adaptation and a willingness to weather the storms. We've all seen those Instagram perfect couples. But let's face it if you don't occasionally want to strangle your significant other, are you even in a real relationship? And here's a major truth bomb People change. We're not the same person we were yesterday, let alone when we said our I do's. We're diving deep into the importance of embracing growth, understanding that you and your partner will evolve and, most importantly, evolving together.

Speaker 1:

Marriage isn't about finding someone to save you. It's about two individuals navigating life's crazy roller coaster hand in hand and, as always, every week, we like to leave you with an actionable takeaway tool communication and adaptation. Marriage is crumble not because of a lack of love, but often due to a breakdown in communication. Recognize that the way you communicated at the start may need a reboot. Talk, listen and adapt to the changes life throws your way. If you're someone like me, who likes to jump into the conversation you're having with your significant other before they finish their thought that is literally my husband's pet peeve Practice taking a breath and reminding yourself to let your partner finish. Trust me, it's hard. It's hard If you're the one in the relationship that finds yourself compromising what you want. A lot work on speaking your mind when something is bothering you. At the end of the day, your marriage will survive if you fight for it. Until next time I'm out.
